Drive out Hate with Love- #EncouragmentWednesday
A wise man once said,
Reading this quote, it helps me quite a bit. When I visualize what is being said, I feel it was reminiscent of what Jesus told us.
Love your neighbor as I have loved you.
John 13:34
In a world where there seems to be not enough love at times. Where hatred fills the media painting a picture that makes it seem as though all hope is lost. As though we are on a deserted island away from Jesus. When we think about it, we should never feel as though all hope is gone because we are the hope. Jesus did not say that love cannot exist without him on the Earth, He said love your neighbor as I have loved you. Which means that we must live by the example that he set forth. To be the love of the world through Him.
This quote speaks to me so much because at times I can feel as though injustice can over take me or that someone is being rude to me for no reason at all. My first instinct is to throw rudeness right back at them(lets be honest I am no saint and I have moments.) We are to live by the truth set before us, and that is Love conquers all. When the flesh roars I must hold it back and love the person. Not with a sarcastic stab, but a love that the person may need. Not knowing why they are taking their frustration out on me, but acknowledging that my source of love is from Him. My provider who provides all things to those who ask.
My take away from this quote is that I need to be Jesus to the darkness, by giving them the love that I have in my heart. I may not get it right the first time, second, third, forth, or even fifth. Thankfully God is a God of second chances, and He will continually shine another opportunity for us when we need it.
Today, know that whatever hate is being fed through the media know that good still exists and we hold the power to share it. Love the people around you no matter how much hate they be throwing at you. I know it is hard, but in the end they need it so much more than the hate they have given you.
Wherever you are today I hope that you are in a place to receive this. I hope it floods your heart and you can take it into the homes, streets, workplaces where you are. I believe that each of you can put Love back on the map.
